Basic Power Rack (Full Cage)

I’ve selected images of this RitFit/Hulkfit rack as the showcase, but this post is also applicable to similar type racks that are on the market (there are quite a few variations)

The short version: there is definitely a valid use case for these racks, it’s just important to understand/define the intention of your home gym.

To start off, these racks usually get a bad rep for being cheap/poorly made/not as functional as other racks. And, hate to break it to ya, but there is definitely some validity to all of those comments. The biggest thing I’ve noticed with these racks is there is much less consistency than with the other, better known/reputable brands (think Rogue).

That being said, there are many of these racks that are plenty functional, and I know one customer I bought this rack from has put 600 pounds on it without issues.

If you’re looking to build your gym on a budget, and have decided you do want a full rack, I think this is a very fair/viable option for you.

Here’s some key points:

Pros:
-Lower price point
-Comes with dip handles and pull-up bar
-Simple design for quick assembly
-Widely available

Cons:
-Sometimes has inconsistency with the manufacturing quality
-The metal feels cheaper than most racks, leading to some users not feeling as safe using it (even if that is only one’s perception, it is still an important point to consider)
-Not as customizable. The more popular/higher quality racks usually have tons of attachment options/upgrades you can get. This one does not have as much readily available for it, even though it does have a pulley system you can purchase for it
-No plate storage pegs
-Color (joking, mostly… 😉)

Would I put it in my home gym? No, but that’s because my goals for my home gym have nothing to do with budget, and since I am in this business I’ve got to have the coolest gadgets for myself, right?? Haha.

For a lot of my customers this is a solid, budget friendly option!
