The quick version: This is a highly underrated piece of home gym equipment!
First, let’s start by saying that for a whole lot of home gym owners, this won’t be needed as your squat rack/power tower already has one built into it. That being said, there’s actually quite a bit more functionality than just pull-ups… did you know that? Let’s see what all it can do:
-Pull-ups/chin-ups (ok, yes this one is obvious)
-Core work (put it on the ground in a door frame and then you can put your feet underneath the bar to hold your legs in place while you’re doing sit-ups)
-Push-ups (yup! Lay the bar down as shown in the pictures and you can use the different grips for different push-up variants)
-Dips (Lay the bar as shown in the pictures and put your hands on the humped portion, with your legs straight out in front of you. It’s not as good as a bench/rack for dips, but it’ll do the trick in a pinch)
Pretty cool, right?
So, no pros and cons this week, but here’s what I think you should do:
Do you only go to the gym/don’t own a home gym? Get one of these!! It’s an extremely low priced investment to guarantee you can get a full upper body workout in if you ever do need to stay home…
Do you have a home gym? If your equipment doesn’t have a pull-up bar, then this is a no brainer. If your equipment does, and you have a bench for dips, then I would probably skip this
