Vtx Metal Olympic Weight Plates

On the surface, this posts seems seemingly random. Weight is weight, right? A metal 45lbs plate is a metal 45lbs plate…

For the most part! And for most of my customers they would not notice the difference. That being said, there are a few things that make VTX plates special compared to most other metal plates… let’s find out what what those are

Pros (why are they better then most other brands?):
-Precise machining of the hole ensures they will fit perfectly on your Olympic bar (no wobble or difficulties getting on)
-Precise machining ensures matching weight between the plate pair (within a small degree of tolerance)
-The looks! Personally I find these to be some of the cleanest looking metal plates
-Gripability. Is that even a word? lol. But basically all VTX plates are either grip plates design or deep dish plates so they are easier to use and maneuver
-The finish. They are very smooth feeling, which is nice for your hands and the aesthetic. I’ve also seen very few of these plates (the deep dish at least) that develop a lot of rust

Cons:
-The price! Brand new these things are $2/lbs plus… ouch!
-thickness. Compared to the cap barbell plates (one of the most common ones) these are a bit thicker, meaning if you’re moving a lot of weight, you can fit less on the bae

The most exciting thing about these is that they have all those pros, yet on the used market, not a lot of people know about that (they don’t have the same brand name as rogue, for example) so it’s fairly easy to find them for the same price as regular metal plates. If you’re able to get them for ~$1/lbs, definitely snag some up and you won’t regret it! (I don’t think so at least 😉).
