Custom Home Gym Design & Installation

You know you should be training more consistently.
You want the convenience of a home gym.
But the process feels overwhelming.

Too many equipment options. Conflicting advice. Long shipping times. Boxes arriving damaged. Pieces that do not fit your space or your goals. What was meant to simplify your life becomes another unfinished project in the corner of your home.

Forged removes that friction.

Our custom home gym service is for people who value their health but do not have time to research equipment, coordinate delivery, or figure out layouts. We handle every step so you can focus on training, not logistics.

Start My Home Gym Design

How It Works

STEP 1:

Initial Consult

We start with a call to understand your goals, training style, timeline, and the space you want to transform. This sets the foundation for every decision that follows.

We create a custom gym layout and equipment plan tailored to your space, budget, and how you actually train. Every detail is intentional—from footprint and flow to future expandability.

STEP 2:

Design & Planning

STEP 3:

In-Home or Showroom Visit

You choose what makes the most sense:

  • In-home visit: We come to your space to measure, confirm fit, and finalize placement so installation day runs perfectly.
  • Showroom visit: You visit our Novi showroom to see equipment in person, test pieces, compare options, and refine your selections with hands-on guidance.

We source every piece for you. Most equipment is in stock or readily available, allowing us to move quickly without compromising quality.

STEP 4:

Equipment Sourcing

STEP 5:

Bringing Your Gym to Life

We deliver and professionally install everything in your space. By the end of installation day, your gym is fully built, cleaned up, and ready for immediate use. We finish with a short safety walkthrough so you’re confident and ready to train.

Questions, Answered

Straight answers to the things people ask before they commit to a serious home gym. If your question isn't here, bring it to your Discovery Call.

01 Fit & Service Area

Who is Forged a great fit for?

Forged is built for busy professionals and families who want one finished home gym room done right, not random pieces bought over time. You're a great fit if:

  • You live within about a 90-minute drive of Novi, Michigan.
  • You want a partner to design, source, and install everything, so you don't have to manage vendors or guess on equipment.
  • You're planning to invest $12,000 to $60,000 into a serious, long-term setup.
  • You'd like this done in the next 1 to 6 months, not "someday, maybe."

If that sounds like you, the Discovery Call is where we start. See how we built Patrick's basement studio so he could train alongside his son.

Who is NOT a fit for Forged?

We're upfront about this because it saves everyone time. Forged probably isn't your best move if:

  • You only want a design or room layout and plan to buy all the equipment elsewhere.
  • You've already spec'd every piece from Rogue or other brands and just want a cheap install.
  • Your top priority is the absolute lowest price on equipment, even if it means compromising on quality or service.
  • You're outside our in-person service area for full installs.

We build finished, done-for-you gyms, not budget starter setups in the corner of a garage. If that's not what you're after, we'd rather tell you on the first call than three conversations in.

What areas do you serve for full home-gym installs?

We serve Southeast Michigan, generally within about a 90-minute drive of our Novi showroom. We confirm your exact address on the Discovery Call, so there are no surprises on either side.

If you're just outside that range, mention it on the call. We'll tell you honestly whether we can make your build work.

02 Process & The Blueprint

What is the step-by-step process to get a home gym built with Forged?

Every build follows the same clear path, so you always know what happens next. For a full overview, see our home gym design and installation page.

  1. Discovery Call. We learn your space, goals, and vision, and confirm you're in our service area.
  2. Home Gym Design & Fit Blueprint. A paid, in-home design, layout, and equipment plan built for your exact space.
  3. Design review. We walk you through the layout, equipment, and finishes together.
  4. Equipment order. We source and order everything, so you don't chase vendors or freight.
  5. Install dates. We lock your build onto the schedule.
  6. The build. A focused install, and you're training in your new space.
What is the Home Gym Design & Fit Blueprint, and why is it paid?

People sometimes ask why they'd pay for a plan. The honest answer: a guessed layout is how you end up with the wrong equipment and a room that doesn't flow, which costs far more than the plan ever would.

The Blueprint is an in-home design, layout, and equipment plan built specifically for your space. It's paid because it's real design work and real expertise, and because it filters for homeowners who are serious about building.

Here's the part that matters: if you move forward with your build within 30 days, we credit the full cost of the Blueprint toward your project. For clients who build, it effectively costs nothing.

How long does it take to get my home gym built?

From first conversation to finished home gym, most projects take about 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your space, equipment choices, and our shared calendar. The actual installation is fast: once everything is staged in our warehouse, most gyms are built in 1 to 3 consecutive days.

Here's the typical timeline:

  1. Home Gym Discovery Call (this week). A 15-minute call to confirm your space, goals, and budget are a fit.
  2. In-home Design & Fit Blueprint (1 to 2 weeks). We come to your home, measure the space, talk through how you train, and map your layout and equipment.
  3. Design review and equipment order (about 1 week). You review your Blueprint, approve the plan, and we lock in equipment and installation details.
  4. Installation window (scheduled within the next few weeks). We agree on specific install dates that work for you. Our crew shows up, protects your home, builds out the gym, and cleans up, so you can train in a finished space right away.

To keep this simple and stress-free, we back it with an On-Time, No-Surprise Bill Promise: once we lock in your install dates and project scope, your dates don't move and your price doesn't change, unless you decide to change the plan. You won't get a surprise extra invoice after the gym is built.

If you have a hard deadline like a new baby, surgery, or a big event, tell us on the first call and we'll let you know upfront whether we can commit to it.

03 Investment & Payments

How much should I expect to invest in a serious home gym?

We build finished, high-performance gyms, not $500 starter setups. This is an investment in an asset you'll use every day, not a one-off purchase.

Most clients invest between $12,000 and $60,000 into a serious, long-term setup, depending on your space, your equipment, and your finishes. We scope all of it before we ever give you a number. The Blueprint is where we pin down your exact figure, and once we give it, it's locked in. No hidden costs, no mid-project upsells.

How do payments work for my project?

The Blueprint fee is due upfront. The equipment and install balance is due before your install dates.

Some clients choose to pay for their equipment earlier to lock in inventory and pricing on the pieces they want. We lay out the full payment schedule in your design review, so there's never a surprise bill.

Do you offer financing or payment options?

Yes. We offer financing through a third-party partner, so you can spread your investment out instead of paying for everything at once.

You'll have the option to check your financing and see what you qualify for during the process. Outside of that, we keep payments simple and tied to milestones, so your project stays on schedule and on budget rather than stalling halfway through.

04 Design, Equipment & Scope

Can you just design my gym and let me handle buying and install?

The thinking is usually "I'll save money if I just get the plan and do the rest myself." In practice, that's where builds go sideways. Coordinating vendors, lead times, freight, and install is a project in itself, and a plan executed by someone else rarely lands like the vision on paper.

Most of our clients hire us for the full done-for-you build precisely so they don't have to manage vendors or guess on equipment. The Blueprint is the planning step, and its cost is credited into the build.

We do take a limited number of design-only engagements each year for homeowners who truly want plans only. Those start at a higher, premium rate and are separate from the Blueprint. If that's what you're after, mention it on your call and we'll tell you if it's a fit.

Can you use brands I already own, or third-party equipment (Rogue, REP, etc.)?

Yes. If there's specific equipment you already own, or a brand you want like Rogue, REP, or anything else, we'll work it into your build. It's your gym.

The one thing we're straight about: bringing in outside equipment can affect lead times and warranty coverage on those pieces, since they're backed by their own manufacturer rather than by us. We'll flag any of that during design, so you can decide what matters most for your space.

What if my space is small, odd-shaped, or unfinished?

That's most of the spaces we work in. Garages, basements, bonus rooms, and unfinished square footage are our normal canvas, not a problem to apologize for.

A tight or awkward layout is a design challenge, and design is exactly what we do.

05 Install & Guarantees

How long does installation take, and what do I need to do to prep?

Install is a focused window, usually a couple of days depending on the scale of the build. We handle the heavy lifting, protect your floors and walls, and work cleanly around kids and pets.

Once your plan is finalized, we typically schedule your install within a few weeks. On your end, prep is minimal: clear the space and let us do the rest. We'll tell you exactly what to expect before install day, so there are no question marks.

What guarantees do you offer?

We put our promises in writing, in plain English:

  • Love Your Layout. We design and refine until the layout is right for your space before anything is ordered or installed.
  • On-Time. We commit to your install dates and we hit them.
  • On-Budget, No-Surprise Bill. The number we quote is the number you pay. No mid-project upsells, no line items you didn't approve.

Still have questions?

Bring them to your Discovery Call. We'll walk you through every detail of your build, in person or over the phone.
